Day 8 – January 9, 2023
“Right Timing”
Acts 9:9 - For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.
Have you ever looked back at a situation and thought, “I was in the right place at the RIGHT TIME. It had to be God.”? Of course, you probably have.
There is a photo of my father wearing his black cowboy hat and a grin on his face. Every time I look at his picture I think - what a wonderful, happy moment this was, caught with perfect timing.
Acts Chapter nine tells the story of Saul who was on his way to Damascus to persecute Christians. Suddenly, he is knocked off his horse and hears the voice of Jesus, asking him a question then directing him to continue to the city. Immediately after this encounter, Saul is blinded and does not eat or drink for three days.
At the very same time, the Lord speaks to a disciple named Ananias and instructs him to go to Saul (even though he is no doubt afraid based on Saul’s reputation). When Ananias lays hands on Saul and prays for him to be filled with the Holy Spirit, he regains his sight, gets up, and is water baptized. Wow! PERFECT TIMING.
Although this story does not specifically reference ‘fasting’ (and it certainly was not a planned fast on Saul’s part!), it is still a New Testament Scripture passage highlighting the miraculous and supernatural. Through fasting and prayer, both Saul and Ananias received visions and instructions from the Lord that caused their paths to cross at the exact right time to fulfill God’s purpose. God was working in both hearts at the same time.
The rest is history. Saul went on to become the Apostle Paul, an awesome man of God. Just like with Paul, there are “God moments” that He has mapped out for our lives. There are doors to open, paths to cross, unplanned conversations to be had and so much more that can come from fasting and praying! So let me encourage you on this fast to listen to the instruction from the Lord and allow God to create the perfectly-timed path for your life.
